What does "Carlson Gracie Team" signify?"It signified our proud lineage of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Florence Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is proud to represent the Carlson Gracie Team in competitions nationwide. The Carlson Gracie style of BJJ is aggressive and pressure-based, which is a staple of the "old school" style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We at Florence BJJ teach the Carlson Gracie style mixed with more modern techniques that many practitioners use in Jiu-Jitsu competitions.

Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu appropriate for children?Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is definitely appropriate for children. We hold children's classes every Monday and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. We offer a fun and safe training environment for our little practitioners.

Do I have to sign an annual contract?Students do not have to sign a contract. We offer multiple membership types. Members of our academy have the option to sign up on a month-to-month plan, a six-month plan, or on an annual basis.

What is the youngest age of student you will accept?We begin training students at age five.

What is the average class size?Afternoon classes average 15 to 20 members and morning classes average five to ten members.
